BAG FOR BREAD

OGI

Origin: Bag for bread
In the fall of 2018 we located a bread bag hanging from a hook on a wall of a rural house full of old objects in the Irati Forest, a forest distributed between the northç of Navarre and the French Basque Country, and also one of the largest and best preserved beech forests throughout Europe.

Reinterpretation:
In this piece the crafts acquire a leading role as a technique that intervenes in the textile support. The piece is composed of two large pockets where to store the loaves of bread. In them an ornamental motif has been stamped, decontextualized to the measure and characteristics of the piece, very habitual in objects like the argizaiola or the kutxa. It is a notch made with a carved gouge that has been geometrized, taken to the minimum expression and to which theç scale has been increased, creating a pattern that reinterprets the original wood pattern.

Designed by Silvia Ceñal & Naia Querejeta.
Manufactured by Aleix & Quim.
